PALESTINIAN AMAZED AT MODERN STATE OF MALAYSIA

KUALA LUMPUR, June 17 (Bernama) -- A Palestinian Wednesday praised Malaysia
as a great nation where people of all races and religions lived peacefully.

"Before my arrival, I did not really think that Malaysia would be such a
great country. I know it (Malaysia) is a Muslim country, but I did not know
Malaysia is such a modern state," said Nasser Barakat, 23, who arrived here on
Friday for a visit to Malaysia.

Nasser, who will return to Gaza at the end of this month, said he intended
to study in Malaysia like some of his friends.

"When I get back to Gaza, I will tell my people that we (Muslims) have a
modern Muslim nation (in Malaysia). I even saw some Europeans having a great
time here, which means that Malaysia is a great place to stay," he told Bernama
when met at the "Save Palestine" exhibition organised by Aman Malaysia (the
People's Alliance for Peace Malaysia) at KL Sentral, here.

Nasser expressed his gratitude to Malaysians for the support they gave to
the Palestinian cause.

Meanwhile, Aman Malaysia chairman Ahmad Zaki Zahid said the exhibition
was held at KL Sentral because it was a strategic location where about 130,000
people used the transportation system daily.
