Paes, Dlouhy finish runners-up in UNICEF Open

New Delhi, Jun 20 (PTI) Top seeds Leander Paes and Lukas
Dlouhy came agonisingly close to clinching their second ATP
title of the season before Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau
pipped them to the post in the final of the UNICEF Open in
's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands.
Fourth seeds Lindstedt and Tecau won their second ATP
World Tour doubles title together with a battling 1-6 7-5 10-7
victory over Paes and Dlouhy in the ATP World Tour 250
grass-court tennis tournament.
The start to the final was delayed by over an hour due to
rain. Paes and Dlouhy were undeterred, though, breaking serve
three times as they raced to a one-set lead in just 20
minutes.
The Indo-Czech pair looked set to dominate the second set
as well as they broke serve in the sixth game to lead 4-2.
However, Lindstedt and Tecau drew level and went on to
win three of the last four games to level the match. They then
continued their momentum into the deciding tie-break and
sealed victory in 68 minutes.
Paes and Dlouhy were contesting their first tournament
since finishing runners-up in the French Open final two weeks
ago.
The Indo-Czech duo, who slipped to a 4-8 lifetime mark in
tour-level finals, also lost out in the Brisbane and Dubai
finals earlier this year.
They won their lone title of the season at the Sony
Ericsson Open.
"I cannot explain this loss yet. I will need some time.
But it still was a beautiful week here; tournament director
Marcel Hunze is doing a fantastic job," Paes said. PTI PM
