MALAYSIAN PM NAJIB CONGRATULATES PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT-ELECT AQUINO
KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak made a telephone call Monday to congratulate Philippine president-elect Benigno Aquino III.
Wisma Putra (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), in a statement, said that in the
10-minute telephone conversation, both leaders agreed to broaden and deepen
bilateral relations and cooperation in the economic, political and security
areas.
Aquino also expressed the Philippines' keenness to work closely with
Malaysia in various issues of mutual interest and concern, including finding a
peaceful solution in the southern Philippines, it said.
Najib also took the opportunity to extend an invitation to Aquino to visit
Malaysia at a mutually convenient date, the statement said.
