SEMINAR TO TAP BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN MALAYSIA AND INDIA




PETALING JAYA (Malaysia), June 22 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia-India Business
Council(MIBC) Seminar on July 8 here, will further enhance opportunities for
entrepreneurs from both countries, to tap into sectors such as manufacturing, IT
and non-IT industries, infrastructure, services, bio-technology, health and
education.

Themed, "Towards A Strategic Partnership-Tapping Growth Opportunities", the
seminar is being jointly organised by the MIBC and the Malaysian Associated
Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI).

It will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

MIBC President Krishnan Tan said the one-day seminar is expected to
attract about 500 delegates comprising corporate business leaders from Malaysia
and India.

"The aim is to bring together specified and targeted industries from
Malaysia and India, to create awareness and a better understanding, of what each
has to offer the other," he told a media briefing here today.

From January to April 2010, Malaysia's exports to India stood at RM6.6
billion (US$2.1 billion) with RM2.6 billion (US$0.81 billion) worth of imports
from that country.

India was Malaysia's 12th largest trading partner in 2009.

Tan said among the topics to be discussed at the seminar are, Malaysia in
Rising Asia, India in the New Global Economic Order, Growth Outlook,
Opportunities and Experience in Malaysia and Prospects, Challenges and
Experiences in India.

He said participants will be able to network and undertake business-matching
while sharing their expertise and thoughts.

Prime Minister Najib Razak will deliver the keynote address and also
officiate the seminar.

Meanwhile, International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed and his
Indian counterpart, Anand Sharma will also address the seminar.

The MIBC is a dynamic platform which seeks enhanced business and investment
ties with India.

It also encourages the Indian business and corporate sector to
take advantage of opportunities offered by Malaysia with its investment-friendly
climate.
