DUBAI TO HOST WORLD CONGRESS OF CARDIOLOGY 2012

DUBAI, June 23 (Bernama) -- Dubai has won the bid to host the World Heart Federation's World Congress of Cardiology that will take place in 2012, for the first time in the Middle East region.

"We're proud to host this congress that will be attended by over 20,000
delegates from all over the world," Dubai Health Authority director-general
Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid said in remarks made available here.

Noting that cardiovascular disease was one of the leading causes of death
globally, he said Dubai would provide all its support, both in terms of creating
awareness and further establishing specialised protocols and centres to tackle
the disease.

The biennial congress is a platform where the global healthcare community and
cardiologists discuss and share the latest advances in the prevention and
control of cardiovascular disease.

The Chinese capital, Beijing, hosted the 2010 edition while the one in 2008 was
held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
