IHSC PLANS TO EXPAND BUSINESS BASE TO ASIA PACIFIC REGION

By Christine Lim

KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- ICFE Homefront Security Consultancy
(IHSC), the provider of security and protection services to counter criminal
attacks, terrorist and cyber crimes, plans to expand its business base from
Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong to other parts of the Asia Pacific region.

Director and principal consultant, Joshua Kwai, said IHSC currently served
a wide pool of clientele from the maritime industry, the aviation industry as
well as government, commercial, industrial, oil and gas and academia.

"Currently, we are talking to potential clients from China, Indonesia and
Thailand," Kwai told Bernama in an interview.

"IHSC professional services can help address security concerns such as cyber
crimes, criminal and terrorist attacks, financial crimes and residential
crimes," Kwai said.

With consultants who are certified by internationally recognised security
related certification body and having at least 15 years of experience, Kwai
said, IHSC was capable of assisting organisations to develop resilient and
robust security systems.

He said there were not many players in Malaysia and Hong Kong who provided
security and fraud management solutions like the kind provided by IHSC and its
associate companies.

"In IHSC, our team of consultants have served the police force, military
intelligence, engineering and public service sectors," he explained.

IHSC's pool of consultants are experienced in project management, said Kwai,
adding that they have managed security projects within the Asia Pacific region.

"Some of them have vast experience in designing systems that help clients to
mitigate terrorist attacks. This is done by implementing structural hardening
systems.

"We can work side-by-side with the local state security agencies to develop
a set of state-of-the-art counter terrorism measures to mitigate threats that
are posed by local and transnational terrorists," Kwai explained.

IHSC is a business unit of the ICFE Group of companies.

ICFE Consultancy Group Pte Ltd, based in Singapore, which is the
headquarters for ICFE Group, is the only practicing Certified Fraud Examiner
(CFE) firm in the Asia Pacific region.

ICFE Consultancy Group was formed with the intention of combating
fraudulent activity and maintaining good corporate governance, and consequently
providing professional training and value-adding consultancy services.

To address the security concern of Cyber Crime, Kwai said, IHSC can help
organisations to develop a set of Information Technology Management System and
Inforcom Security Management System that would enable them to detect, reduce and
eradicate possible occurrence of email scams, identity theft, hacking and other
similar crimes.

Kwai stressed that IHSC security solutions objective was to "Detect, Deter,
Delay and Deny" any possible forms of security threats.

"These threats can be in the forms of house breaking, theft from persons,
theft from vehicles, robbery, murder and placement of improvised explosive
devices," Kwai elaborated.

To mitigate these threats, Kwai said, control measures ought to be put in
place like positioning guard post at the right location, deploying security
officers to perform static and patrol duties, erecting perimeter fencing system,
intrusion detection system like CCTV.

To reduce the chances of identity theft and to detect financial and
procurement fraud (which are common fraud activities), Kwai said one can
mitigate these threats by deploying physical access control mechanisms like Card
Access Control System and Document Management.

Meanwhile, security training consultancy is another service provided by
IHSC.

Under this service, it develops and conducts security related trainings
including seminars, workshops and professional certification programmes for
security practitioners.

"We also assist our clients to develop training policy, procedures and
training framework which include training the managers of our clients," Kwai
said.

The last aspect of IHSC's consultancy services, Kwai said, is Business
Resilience consultancy where it helps clients to assess their existing
capability of continuing their operations during and after a crisis has
occurred.

The ICFE Group of Companies recently hosted the International Cyber and
Economic Crimes Conference in Kuala Lumpur.
