MINISTER CALLS ON ALL RACES TO PARTICIPATE IN KL FESTIVAL

KUALA LUMPUR June 28 (Bernama)-- Information Communication and Culture
Minister Dr Rais Yatim hopes that people of all races will participate in the
month-long KL Festival which begins this Thursday.

could help forge unity and cooperation among Malaysia's multicultural society
in the spirit of 1Malaysia.

Rais also believed that the festival which was into its fifth year would be
able to attract more than 600,00 visitors.

In his recorded speech carried at the launching of the festival, Rais also
thanked the private sector for contributing to the organising of the festival.

"Forty-nine of the 115 arts and cultural activities will involve the private
sector," he added.

The festival was launched by his deputy, Joseph Salang Gandum at Taman
Tasik Titiwangsa (Titiwangsa Lake Gardens), here, Sunday.

Also present were the ministry's secretary-general Kamaruddin
Siaraf and Kuala Lumpur mayor Ahmad Fuad Ismail.

In his speech, Salang said the festival this time would focus on making
