SINGAPORE TANKER HIJACKED IN GULF OF ADEN

SINGAPORE, June 29 (Bernama) – A Singapore-registered tanker was hijacked by
pirates while transiting the Gulf of Aden Monday.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) which confirmed the
incident, said it received reports on the hijacking at 12.45pm.

In a statement, MPA said the petroleum/chemical tanker, M. T. Golden
Blessing, was hijacked while on its way from Saudi Arabia to India.

There were 19 crew, all Chinese nationals, on board the vessel, and they
were reported to be safe.

MPA said it was working with the relevant government agencies and the ship
owner, and was monitoring the situation closely.

The tanker is owned by Golden Pacific International Holdings (S) Pte Ltd and
is bareboat chartered out to Shanghai Dingheng Shipping Co Ltd.
