MINISTER SHAHRIZAT TO ATTEND AQUINO'S INAUGURATION CEREMONY IN PHILIPPINES WEDNESDAY
KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (Bernama) -- Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil will be representing Malaysia at the inauguration of president-elect Benigno Aquino III and vice president-elect Jejomar Binay at Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park in Manila Wednesday.
According to the Foreign Ministry's statement, the King Tuanku Mizan Zainal
Abidin, Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and Foreign Minister Anifah Aman were
among the leaders who sent congratulatory messages to Aquino after the latter's
proclamation as president-elect on June 9 this year by joint session of the
Philippines Congress.
Najib has also personally called Aquino to convey his congratulations
on June 21.
"Malaysia will work closely with the Republic of Philippines to enhance
bilateral relation in all fields of mutual interest and towards achieving the
collective aspiration of a stable and prosperous ASEAN," said the Foreign
Ministry.
