CONFERENCE ON GAZA TO BE HELD IN KL ON JULY 11

KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama) -- An international conference, entitled
'Breaking the Siege: In the Spirit of Rachel Corrie and Mavi Marmara', will be
held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) on July 11.

The conference, organised by Perdana Global Peace Organisation (PGPO), among
others will discuss measures and efforts to be undertaken to challenge the
illegal seige in Gaza.

In a statement released here Sunday, PGPO said speakers at the conference
included Turkish humanitarian relief organisation Insani Yardim Yakfi head
Yildrim Bulent, former United Nations assistant secretary-general Denis J.
Halliday and MV Rachel Corrie team head Derek Graham.

PGPO chairman and former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad will deliver
the keynote address. Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will deliver
the closing address.

The one-day conference will be held at Dewan Tun Razak 1 at 9am. Entrance is
free. The public are advised to come early as seats are limited.
