15-year-old girl arrested for killing father in Saitama Pref

SAITAMA, Japan, July 19 Kyodo - A 15-year-old girl was arrested Saturday on suspicion of stabbing her father to death at their home in Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture, police said.
The third-year junior high school student has admitted to stabbing her father in the chest twice with a kitchen knife, according to the police.
The girl also said she had not been speaking much with her father, a 46-year-old company employee, for a long time, the police said.
She said her parents had urged her to study and she had an antipathy to doing so, according to the police.
After receiving a phone call from the home around 3 a.m. Saturday, the police found the father bleeding from the chest on the bedroom floor at the condominium. He later died.
The father asked his 49-year-old wife to call an ambulance when she went into the bedroom after hearing their voices from the room, the police said.
The girl and her family -- her father, mother and 12-year-old brother -- had eaten curry together cooked by the girl and the father on Friday evening at home.
The brother was in the bedroom but was not aware of the incident as he was asleep, the police said.
The girl had been absent without permission from an exam in English conversation at her school in Saitama on Friday. When a teacher called the home, the girl's brother said she was in bed with a cold.
