Dh1.2 billion, infrastructure cost of Al Nujoom Islands
Sharjah, July 20, 2008 (WAM) - Al Hanoo Holding, one of the largest holding and development companies in the region, has organised two workshops with Halcrow International and Emcor Services.
The basis of these workshops is to discuss the latest developments of the infrastructure of Hanoo's largest project, 'Al Nujoom Islands', which is being developed on the Arab Gulf in Hamria area in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Al Hanoo Holding's Chairman Sheik Abdullah Al-Shakrah said: "Holding of the workshops coincides with the initiating of phase II of the project which includes infrastructure, as well as phase I of construction works.
"The cost of Al Nujoom Islands infrastructure is estimated to be Dh1.2
billion, including bridge construction, roads and pavements, installation of electricity power lines and water services, not to mention that the area fit for construction formed only 40% of the total project area, whilst water area and vegetation covered 60% of remaining project area," added Al-Shakrah.
Organisation of the workshops between Al Hanoo Holding and Halcrow, which supervised the main designs of the project commissioned by Hanoo, comes after completion of waterway digging, which converted 3 km of Hamria coast to land in-between the islands, with a 33 km waterfront and ports holding 500 vessels of a variety of sizes.
The project consists of 13 sections. Main coastal ground forms the first three sections, while the other 10 are islands separated by canals that have been carefully designed according to the highest standards in relation to water circulation in the canals, movement which depends on tidal ebb and flow movements and utilization of pre-designed schemes without causing any harm to surrounding nature.
Most recently, Al Hanoo unveiled plans for the spectacular and
groundbreaking Nujoom Islands project, a development which looks to set to combine world class infrastructure and the beauty of nature in the emirate of Sharjah in the UAE. This pioneering project, embraced by the sea and covering 60 million square metres is destined to set Nujoom Islands apart from anything else.
The Nujoom Islands venture is without doubt the first of its kind in the Middle East in terms of engineering design. Boasting a comprehensive list of top class facilities including a 5 star hotel, residential and commercial towers, villas and townhouses and superbly connected to the rest of the country, such a venture will bring dynamic changes to Sharjah.
