FORUM TO HIGHLIGHT EXPERIENCE ONBOARD MAVI MARMARA

PENANG (Malaysia), July 6 (Bernama) -- The experiences of Free Gaza Movement
activist Adam Qvist and two other Malaysian volunteers onboard the Gaza Flotilla
Mavi Marmara which was attacked by Israelis on May 31, will be shared with the
public in a forum on Friday.

Titled 'Gaza: Kisah Sebenar' (Gaza: A True Story), the forum which is
jointly organised by the Penang Malay Chamber of Commerce (DPMMPP) and Penang
Socio-Economic Research Institution, will be held at the Caring Society Complex
at 8pm.

Besides creating awareness on Israeli cruelty and the Palestinian struggle,
the forum was aimed at encouraging the public to show support and concern for
the Palestinians, said a statement from the chamber's communications director.

The two volunteers are Mustapa Mansor and Al Hami Husain Suhaimi.

The statement said the volunteers would recount the hardship they faced
while in Israeli custody.

Meanwhile, in KUALA LUMPUR, the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) will
visit Gaza from July 11-21 to explore the possibility of sending aid ahead of
Ramadan.

Its vice-chairman Bahari Abu Mansor told a news conference that the MRC
would discuss the matter with the Palestine Red Crescent movement.

He said that MRC volunteers might deliver the aid to Gaza a week before the
Aidilfitri.

He added that last year the MRCS signed an agreement to deliver RM1 million
(US$312,000) to the International Federation of Red Cross to supply 350
prosthetic legs.

"We have also handed over RM500,000 (US$156,250) to buy medical equipment
for the Al-Quds Hospital and RM150,000 (US$46,875) to buy stationeries to about
4,000 children in Gaza," he said.
