BAHRAIN KEEN TO LEARN SARAWAK'S EXPERIENCE IN RENEWABLE ENERGY
KUCHING (Malaysia), July 9 (Bernama) -- Bahrain is keen to learn from
Sarawak's experience in developing renewable energy, especially in the Sarawak
Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).
Bahrain's Minister of Works and Minister in charge of the Electricity and
Water Authority, Fahmi Ali al-Jowder, said the potential for renewable energy
development in the east Malaysian state of Sarawak was experiencing an increase
in attention globally.
"The meeting today with Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Alfred Jabu here was
to explore the opportunities to cooperate with Sarawak in different fields. One
of the areas we discussed was renewable energy," he told reporters after paying
a courtesy call to Jabu at here Friday.
"We would like to further explore areas that we can further strengthen the
relationship between Bahrain and Malaysia such as in the areas of economy,
investment and exchange of knowledge," he said.
Fahmi, who is impressed with Sarawak's tremendous development, praised the
state in developing SCORE, which would set a good example to the world in
developing renewable energy.
"I'm looking forward to come here in near future to see what you do on the
renewable energy," he said.
"Sarawak will showcase to the world on renewable energy, which is affordable
and environment-friendly. It will be an attraction of investment in future."
Beside renewable energy, Fahmi who is on two-day visit to Sarawak since
yesterday, said there was much to learn from Sarawak, including agriculture and
liquefied natural gas (LNG).
He said Bahrain was also keen to explore trade opportunities in Sarawak.
"However, we have not spoken about investment yet. We are looking into the
opportunities available whether it is feasible for us," he aded.
