KENYA CONSIDERING DIRECT NAIROBI-KL FLIGHT

KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 (Bernama) -- Kenya wants to enhance bilateral ties in
tourism with Malaysia, and is even considering to provide direct flights from
Nairobi to Kuala Lumpur.

Kenyan Minister of Nairobi Metropolitan Development Robinson Njeru Githae
said this, following a meeting with Tourism Minister Dr Ng Yen Yen
held here Friday.

He said Kenya would like to learn Malaysia's secret of having succesfully
achieved a total of 23.6 million tourist arrivals between 2006 and 2009, as
compared to 1.2 million visitors recorded by Kenya during the same period.

Kenya had set a target of three million tourist arrivals next year, he said.

Describing Kenya as a "very promising and potential market", Dr Ng said the
ministry recorded 3,000 Kenyan visitors, as of October last year.

This was an increase of 20 per cent as compared to the same period, the
previous year.
