Iran willing to bolster ties with African states: Mottaki

Tehran, July 21, IRNA - Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said that Iran has given priority to promote relations with the African countries, Tanzania in particular.

In a meeting with new Tanzanian Ambassador to Tehran Mohammad Maharage Juma, Mottaki said that Tehran in the Middle East and Dar es Salaam in Africa enjoy special status.

Condemning the International Criminal Court's prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo's wrong methodology in dealing with charge of mass killing in Darfur, he said that African leaders can resolve the crisiswithout external interference.

Mottaki hoped more opportunities will be provided forIran-Tanzania bilateral ties during Juma'a tenure.

Maharage Juma, for his part, said that Iran plays key role in theregion, calling Iran as a hospitable nation.

He said that he has the honor to work as the Tanzanian ambassador to Iran.

He thanked Iran for its policy on supporting the Africans.

Mohammad Maharage Juma submitted copy of his credentials to Mottaki.
