NEMA REPORTS
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The staffers of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) transferred to the preparedness state--10 00 a.m of July 9 to 10:00 a.m of July 14--implementing their director's order 282/2010.
Some 2,115 officers--in duplicated number--and 810 units of fire and life-saving machinery and equipment were alert to any possible disasters nationwide.
The NEMA says that 27 emergency and 8 rescue calls were received, followed by proper actions, for example, started July 4 forest fire was extinguished July 12 by 49 officers of the NEMA and 17 local people in the ''Okhid huuhed'' place, Mandal soum, Selenge aimag. One person was struck dead by thunder lightning and six person sank in waters.
The NEMA and the National Agency of Meteorology, Hydrology and Environment Monitoring were working together warning people who live near rivers. The UB city's Emergency Management Agency and General Police Department were patrolling along banks of the Tuul river.
No disaster calls were received, daily activities were running normally. No breaches were made by the emergency staff during the Naadam days.
