MONGOLIAN NAADAM RUNS ABROAD


Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Mongolian Naadam festival took place July 10 in Budapest city of Hungary among Mongolians who are living and working there.
The Ambassador of Mongolia to Hungary O.Erdenechimeg gave a speech at the opening ceremony and greeted the gathered. Wrestling, archery, ankle bone shooting and Mongolian songs contests were organized among the Mongolians.
The wrestling attracted 22 men. O.Khuyagbaatar won the competition for the second time, whereas Altansukh won the ankle bone shooting, and Osokhbayar--the archery contest. The Mongolian foods were offered to the Hungarian and foreign guests. Some other services were run for the guests as well.

The same day, the Association of Mongolian Students and Youths in the Swiss Confederation organized the Mongolian Naadam in Geneva, Switzerland with a participation of and auspices of the Society of Switzerland and Mongolia and the Embassy of Mongolia in Switzerland.
Charge D'Affairs of Mongolia to Switzerland Mr. D.Batmonkh opened the festival. Living in this country Mongolians met with each other, the Mongolian national culture and custom were introduced.
The Naadam brought together some 200 Mongolians from Geneva city, from France, Austria and other European countries. They organized national wrestling, sumo, tug of war and basketball events, played classic music.

On July 11, the Naadam festival ran on the square of the Yensei University in Seoul. The event was co-organized by the South Korea's Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Department of Industry and Human Resource, the KOMEKS society, and the Honorary Consulate of Mongolia in Seoul at an initiative of Mongolia's Embassy in the Republic of Korea.
With playing the national anthem of Mongolia, the Ambassador of Mongolia to the Republic of Korea D.Gerel delivered a speech at the opening ceremony and conveyed a greeting from the Mongolian President Ts.Elbegdorj to S.Korea-based Mongolians. High officials from the S.Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor congratulated the gathered.
The festival comprised national wrestling, archery, ankle bone shooting, tug of war and basketball. A folk art group gave a concert.
For the Naadam, some 5,000 Mongolians gathered living in South Korea. The mesures were aired by three local TV channels and media agencies such as “Arirang” TV.
