TOYOTA CAMRY TO BE PRODUCED IN MALAYSIA

KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 (Bernama) -- UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd, the local
distributor of Toyota vehicles, announced Wednesday that its principal Toyota
Motor Corporation, Japan, has decided to locally produce the Toyota Camry at the
Assembly Services Sdn Bhd in Shah Alam.

Toyota Motor would also be investing an initial amount of about RM100
million to start the local production at its manufacturing plant in Shah Alam,
UMW Toyota said in a statement Wednesday.

The local production will begin in two years' time, the company said.

"This project reflects UMW Toyota Motor and Toyota Motor Corporation's
support to the Malaysian National Automotive Policy (NAP) to promote
localisation," UMW Toyota said.

"It is hoped that the project will benefit local vendors and contribute to
the Malaysian auto industry in the future," it said.
