PROTOCOL AMENDING DTAA MALAYSIA-INDONESIA COMES INTO FORCE THURSDAY

KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 (Bernama) -- The Protocol Amending the agreement
between Malaysia and Indonesia on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the
Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxed on Income (Protocol Amending
DTAA Malaysia-Indonesia) came into force Thursday.

Application for this protocol shall have effect from Sept 1, said the
Finance Ministry in a statement Thursday.

The decision was made following the signing of the Process-Verbal of the
Exchange of Instrument of Ratification between the two governments in Putrajaya
Thursday.

The agreement was signed by Treasury secretary-general Dr Wan Abdul
Aziz Wan Abdullah on behalf of Malaysia and Indonesia's Ambassador to Malaysia
Drs Da'i Bachtiar.
