Vietnam licenses 3.77 billion USD petrochemical project

Ba Ria-Vung Tau (VNA) - A Vietnam-Thailand joint venture has been licensed to build a 3.77 billion USD petrochemical complex in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, said a local official.

The project will be developed in the Long Son oil and gas industrial zone (IZ), according to the provincial IZ management head, Le Minh Chau.

The Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and Vietnam National Chemicals Corporation will contribute 1.51 billion USD to the project, while the rest is shouldered by the SCG Chemicals and Thai Plastic and Chemicals.

Construction of the complex, the first of its kind in Vietnam , is scheduled to be carried out in six phases and completed in mid 2013. It is expected to employ more than 1,500 workers.-Enditem
