MALAYSIAN PM NAJIB PICKS 53RD INDEPENDENCE DAY OFFICIAL ATTIRE

PUTRAJAYA, July 16 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak has
chosen two official attires for the Independence Month and 53rd Independence Day
celebrations this year.

The attires were from several designs shown by the Malaysian Handicraft
Development Corporation to the prime minister this month.

Five of the designs were shown to Najib Friday.

Present were Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and Information
Communication and Culture Minister Dr Rais Yatim.

Met by reporters, Rais said one of the two attires chosen by Najib would be
worn during the Independence Day celebration on Aug 31 and another during the
launching of the Independence Month on Aug 1.

He said members of the public would also be able to buy the attires at
Karyaneka sales centres from Aug 15 at the price of between RM50 (US$16) and
RM100 (US$32). (US$1=RM3.2)
