New mid-term workplan for accelerating economic activities
DHAKA, Bangladesh, July 22 (BSS)- Bangladesh government has set a three-year new mid-term workplan for accelerating the economic activities.
The workplan is aimed at improving lifestyle, ensuring food security and alleviating poverty through strong and sustainableeconomic development.
The increase in growth rate of gross domestic production(GDP), reduction of inflation rate and government expenditure, raising investment in private sector and income and creating employment have been earmarked in the workplan which will be implemented between current 2008-09 and 2010-11 fiscalyears.
The workplan has been taken to give priority to those sectors which have failed to achieve the target in the last fiscal. But the sectors which have achieved the target will be furtherstrengthened.
The revenue income, remittances and reserve of foreign currency have surpassed the target which played a positive rolein the country's economy.
The target of GDP growth has been fixed at seven percent but it has been revised at 6.2 percent next. The target of inflationhas been fixed to limit at nine percent.
