Iranian ophthalmologist awarded in US

Tehran, July 22 (IRNA) - Iranian ophthalmologist Mohsen Azarmina received the prestigious academic award of the American Academy of Ophthalmology on Monday.

The ophthalmologist, who is also a faculty member of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences has conducted research on retinal angiomatosis and on treatment of blindness due to ethyl alcoholintoxication. His research has yielded promising results.

The American Academy of Ophthalmology is one of the world's largest association of eye physicians and surgeons with more than 27,000members worldwide.

Each year, the academy nominates about 30 ophthalmologists based on their scientific research, the quality and quantity of their published material in respect to their participation in the academy's researchprojects and courses.
