JOBSTREET.COM SEES INCREASING JOB NUMBERS
KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 (Bernama) -- Job trends have been growing
exponentially since 2009 and increased dramatically in March where job numbers
on JobStreet.com hit an all time high of 19,000 available positions, a seminar
was told Thursday.
"We are definitely seeing encouraging growth trends in 2010. In comparison
to last year, we averaged around only 12,000 job positions during the recession.
Jobs this year are up by almost 50 per cent," said Chief Executive Officer and
founder of JobStreet.com Mark Chang.
Speaking at JobStreet.com 22nd Human Resource Networking Event (HRNE) here,
he said companies are drastically hiring once more with the economy
recovering.
"The beginning of last year, that was the time that was the most difficult
for any jobseeker to look for a job but the trend has recovered a whole lot," he
said.
The biggest recovery, he added, was in the manufacturing sector followed by
the construction and property sectors.
With the growth of jobs, the company has also decided to end its JobStreet
Retrenchment Helpline (RHL) a programme held in response to the job market
downturn during the economic crisis.
The programme included over 100 free Resume and Career Clinics that were
attended by more than 5,500 jobseekers nationwide.
A RHL survey showed that over 50 per cent of the retrenched JobStreet.com
members have secured jobs through the website in 2009.
Country Manager Chook Yuh Yng stated that the programme served its purpose
in assisting many retrenched and unemployed jobseekers to find new careers.
