World Health Day marked in Vientiane
(KPL) The Ministry of Public Health and the World Health Organisation in Laos held the World Health Day Ceremony based on the slogan of "Protecting Health from Climate Change" in Vientiane Capital on 18 July.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Public Health, Dr.
Bounkouang Phichit, Deputy Head of the Water Resource and Environment Organisation, Mr. Noulinh Sinbandith, and representative of the World HealthOrganisation in Laos, Dr. Dong Il Ahn.
The aim of this ceremony is to get people in the country to get healthprotection from the adverse effects of the climate change.
Climate change is a challenging problem and it can lead to a disaster for the world. It comes from global warming and is caused mainly by airpollution.
Dr. Bounkouang said, "At present the member countries of the United Nations(UN) try to implement the aims of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGS) .
In the case of Laos it is focussed on poverty reduction and developed status in 2020 so that people will be able to enjoy a good life and to be healthy."
