One killed and three missing in Sayaboury due to flash flood

VIENTIANE 23 JULY (KPL) - A local news source in Sayaboury province disclosed yesterday that two-day heavy rainfall caused flash flood in Xienghone district and killed one and left three missing meanwhile a special official unit is working devotedly to search survivors .
Miss Vandy Khathdaphone, Xienghone district -based Radio reporter, told KPL news journalist yesterday that the rainfall on 17-18 July 2010 caused flash flood in three
villages:
That, Houameuang and Done Moune villages, Xienghone district of Sayaboury province.
The flood killed one girl and left three missing. She said that eight houses were destroyed; cattle, poultry and rice fields submerged under the water.
The local source quoted its provincial administrative office saying yesterday that all the victims were killed and gone missing by the flood in the three villages at midnight while sleeping in their hut.
Now provincial officials took the girl body to her home while continuing the search.
The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology confirmed to KPL news journalist that the heavy rain which had impacts on Sayaboury province as a whole and Xienghone district in particularly, was caused by the influence of Conson Tropical Storm.
