DBKL SCORES INTO MALAYSIA BOOK OF RECORDS, THANKS TO WORLD CUP FINALS

KUALA LUMPUR, July 26 (Bernama) -- Thanks to the World Cup finals, Kuala
Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has scored its way into the Malaysia Book of Records.

DBKL is a local authority which administrates Kuala Lumpur city centre and
other areas in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. This agency is under
Federal Territories Ministry of Malaysia.

DBKL are responsible for public health and sanitation, waste removal and
management, town planning, environmental protection and building control, social
and economic development and general maintenance functions of urban
infrastructure.

DBKL made it into the book for installing the biggest outdoor video screen
in the country for the tournament which drew 60,000 people to the grass square
for the Spain-Holland final on July 12.

Mayor Ahmad Fuad Ismail Monday received a certificate for 'The
Biggest Outdoor LED World Cup Viewing Screen in Malaysia' from Danny
Oii, founder of the local book of records.

"This event has brought all races in Malaysia together, and it will be a
good memory for us," Ahmad Fuad told the media.

The giant screen measured 21.47m in length and 9.20m in width for a total
size of nearly 198 sq metres.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Fuad said Lake Gardens would be further spruced up with
more landscape and flora and fauna under a three-phase project spanning five
years.

In addition to the existing trees, DBKL had planted trees sourced from
Africa and Australia to turn it into a botanical garden, he added.
