BEIJING, July 27 (Bernama) -- The 7th China-ASEAN Expo (CA-EXPO) to be held in Nanning city from October 20 to 24 this year is expected to serve as a catalyst to enhance trade and investments between China and Asean.
Taking on "CAFTA (China-Asean Free Trade Area) and New Opportunities" as its
main theme, the coming expo will focus on trading products, investment
cooperation, trade services, hi-technology areas, said the Vice Governor of
Guangxi Autonomous Region, Chen Wu, during a briefing at the State Council
Information Office here Monday.
Chen said preparations for the CA-Expo and also for the China Asean Business
and Investment Summit (CABIS) were running smoothly, with 4,522 booths already
booked by exhibitors both from China and Asean member countries.
"Participation from both China and Asean countries has been overwhelming.
The number of registered participants is 11.6 per cent more than the previous
expo."
Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam will be having
their own pavillion in the expo.
There will also be special areas set up to introduce some of Asean's unique
products into China market, Chen said.
On Guangxi Autonomous Region's plans to enhance trade and cooperation with
Asean in the future, the vice governor said, as a front runner for China-Asean
cooperation, Guangxi was in a better position to promote China-Asean trade
and cooperation.
He said his government had drawn 10 action plans in transportation,
logistics, industries and agriculture sectors to enhance trade and cooperation
between the two sides.
"We will facilitate the interaction between businesses of both sides so that
they can enter each other's markets more easily."
A China-Asean virtual centre has been also set up to provide businesses of
both sides with richer and more up to date information.
Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International
Trade (CCPIT) Zhang Wei said, the agenda for this year's CABIS will revolve
around regional cooperation, opportunity and challenges following CAFTA.
Zhang said, government leaders and heads of business associations from
various countries will be invited to discuss trade and investment
issues.
