MRC meeting sets plans to manage water resource

VIENTIANE 27 JULY (KPL) - An extraordinary meeting of the Lao National Mekong River Commission was held here last Friday to discuss plans to manage the water resource and natural disaster.
Deputy Prime Minister Asang Laoly who is also the President of Lao National Mekong River Commission chaired the meeting, which was attended by officials of the National Mekong River Commission and a number of technical officials.
During the meeting, the participants have shared views on plans to implement the national water resource management and informed the progress and preparation for co-hosting the fixed location of the Mekong River Commission Secretariat’s building between Vientiane Capital and Phnom Penh of Cambodia.
Mr Asang highlighted a decree of Prime Minister on the implementation and the functioning of the MRC and the statements of Hua Hin (Thailand).
They discussed plans to cooperate with international organisations in connection with the management of water resource and natural disasters, particularly flood and drought.
