AAM EYES 2,000 MEMBERS PER MONTH FOR ELITE FEMME CARD PROGRAMME

KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- The Automobile Association of Malaysia(AAM)
is eyeing up to 2,000 members per month for its newly launched Elite Femme Card,
an emergency and breakdown assistance programme, exclusively for women.

"We expect an average of 1,000-2,000 members per month for the next 12 months,
given that 40 per cent of car owners, are women," AAM Chairman Tunku Mudzaffar
Tunku Mustapha told reporters after the launching ceremony here Friday.

The card was launched by Women, Family and Community Development Minister
Shahrizat Abdul Jalil at the Femme City Exhibition organised by local English
daily Star Publications (M) Bhd.

"Women drivers represent a big and increasingly growing population of
drivers. The significance of the Elite Femme Card is in the features that it
offers, in addressing the needs and concerns of women when they are on the road.

"Not only is the card designed to extend greater convenience to women drivers,
it was also conceptualised with their safety and security in mind, when they are
behind the wheel of a vehicle," Tunku Mudzaffar explained.

Among benefits offered are the 24-hour accident and breakdown assistance,
insurance coverage against snatch thefts, complimentary hotel accommodation and
a personalised take-you-home service in the event of a breakdown or accident.

The Elite Femme Card membership fee includes a RM25 (US$7.86) registration fee
and RM100 (US$31.44) annual subscription fee.

On the automotive industry's outlook, Tunku Mudzaffar said it is
expected to be strong as people are buying cars amid positive signs of the economy
turning around.
