Pak cannot be selective on issues with India: Zardari

Islamabad, Aug 2 (PTI) Pakistan wants friendly and
good neighbourly relations with India but it cannot be
selective about the issues that have to be discussed between
the two countries, President Asif Ali Zardari said on Monday.

Zardari, currently on an official visit to France,
made the remarks during his meeting with his French
counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy in Paris.
Referring to relations with India, Zardari said
Pakistan wanted to have "friendly and good neighbourly
relations with India and an early resumption of dialogue on
all issues as agreed" by the Prime Ministers of the two
countries during their meeting in the Bhutanese capital of
Thimphu in April.
"However, Pakistan cannot be selective on the issues
that have to be discussed between the two countries of India
and Pakistan," he was quoted as saying in an official
statement.
India and Pakistan need to build on the progress
achieved during the last four years under the Composite
Dialogue process, Zardari said.
"Pakistan was more than willing for a constructive
engagement and called for a cooperative approach to deal with
the common threat of terrorism instead of the futile blame
game," he said.
The Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan met in
Islamabad on July 15 but were unable to make headway in
deciding on future engagements between the two sides.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his
Indian counterpart S M Krishna engaged in a war of words after
the talks ended in deadlock. PTI RHL
