BANGKOK POST PUBLISHES 3D NEWSPAPER

BANGKOK, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- 3D movies, 3D television and, now, a 3D
newspaper.

The Bangkok Post, the 64-year-old English daily in Thailand, Friday
published a 3D newspaper, the first of its kind in this country.

The three-dimensional effect was applied to most of the daily's coloured news
photographs and advertisements which could be seen through 3D-viewer glasses
provided free with the newspaper. The text is still in the same format.

Thursday's special 3D edition celebrates the Bangkok Post's 64th
anniversary, and the newspaper price is still 30 baht (about US$0.31) per copy.

The 3D photographs are in all sections, including national news, world news,
sports news and business news in the 40-page main part of the newspaper.

A 3D-picture on the front page shows a woman looking at "Bua Sawan" flowers
(Siam tulips) at a plant breeding centre in Suphan Buri.

The newspaper won the Best Overall Design award in Asia Pacific and the Middle
East, as adjudged by Wan-Ifra, the world association of newspapers and news
publishers, in Kuala Lumpur recently.

It also published an "Our Pride" section completely in 3D to share with its
readers the honour of winning the award.
