Rural electrification in Nam Bark

(KPL) - Nam Bark district of the northern province of Luang-Prabang recently received electricity.

The rural electrification programme in this district received 350 million kip from the Lao government and a 155 kw diesel-run generator worth 50 million kip from people contribution.

The construction of facilities started since early 2007. The work also included the installation of medium and high voltage grids in seven villages and a vocational school for local ethnic groups.

There are 809 families using electricity but until now, electricity meters have been installed for only 180 families. The work is continuing.
