MALAYSIAN ISLAMC ORGANISATIONS CONSULTATIVE COUNCIL PLANS CHILDREN HOSPITAL IN GAZA
From Nizal Mohamed
EL-ARISH (Egypt), Aug 10 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Islamic Organisations
Consultative Council (Mapim) will propose the setting up of a US$34.6 million
paediatric hospital in Gaza, an official said.
Azmi Abdul Hamid, who heads the Mapim-led humanitarian mission to Gaza, said
the council would convey the proposal to the authorities upon reaching
the besieged Palestinian territory.
The nine-storey hospital would have four storeys of paediatric wards, he
told a news conference.
There would also be a recreation centre, playground, nursery, library,
clinic and pharmacy, he added.
"If it is agreed, construction can start by the end of this year and takes
two years to complete."
The mission left this Egyptian town at 10am Malaysian time Tuesday, for
Gaza, under the Ramadan March for Freedom initiative.
El-Arish is a tourist town about 345km from Cairo.
