FRUITFUL GERMANY OUTING FOR MSIAN FM

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- Foreign Minister Anifah Aman had fruitful
discussions with his German counterpart on various matters during his first
official visit to the country recently.

During his three-day visit from Aug 3, Anifah met Germany's Vice-Chancellor and
Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Guido Westerwelle where both leaders
touched on the imperatives of bilateral relations and the expansion of
collaboration in the areas of trade, investment, education, culture and tourism.

Wisma Putra (Foreign Mnistry) in a statement said the visit had allowed the two
countries to enhance political relations and establish personal rapport between
the two foreign ministers.

Malaysia and Germany have maintained strong and substantial bilateral relations,
especially since Germany is the most important trade and investment partner from
the European Union.

"The two ministers also exchanged views on regional and international issues of
mutual concern which allowed Malaysia to convey its position on the various
initiatives undertaken by the government to promote international peace and
security, including in Afghanistan, Iran, Myanmar and the Middle East," the
statement said.
