SRI LANKAN GIRL GUIDES TO VISIT M'SIA FROM AUG 28

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- Thirty-four Girl Guides from the war-torn
areas of Jaffna in northern Sri Lanka will visit Malaysia for 10 days from Aug
28 as part of the Malaysia-Jaffna Centenary Friendship Adventure, it was
announced Thursday.

This is the first collaborative effort by the Girl Guides Association of
Malaysia (GGAM) and the Girl Guides of Jaffna, said Jeyadhevi Subramaniam,
GGAM's International Commissioner cum Programme Coordinator.

The programme for the Girl Guides, aged between 15 and 17, is aimed at
enhancing their guiding knowledge and outdoor skills and to foster international
guiding friendship, she said in a statement.

Besides interacting with local Girl Guides, the visitors will also visit
Negeri Sembilan state, Kuala Lumpur and Melaka state.
