GMUN GOOD PLATFORM TO LEARN ABOUT OTHER COUNTRIES: PARTICIPANTS
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- Participants of the Global Model United
Nations Conference (GMUN) 2010 which kicked off here today are looking forward
to learn about each other's countries.
Psamson Nzioki, 22, from Kenya, said as the chairman of the committee on the
global information society, he will represent Tunisia to touch about Internet
security.
"This conference will make you interact with delegates from other
countries. This conference is not about how your country benefits or how you
benefit, but more about what the world as a whole gets from the resolutions,"
he told reporters on the sidelines of the GMUN 2010 here.
Malaysia's Aimi Arina Md Rasheed, 23, who was picked as Vice President of
the General Assembly for Africa, said the participants were very fortunate in
that they could give ideas for other nations, unlike the United Nations General
Assembly.
GMUN 2010, organised by the UN Department of Public Information, targeted
the best youths and university-level students around the world in a move to
educate them about the work of UN.
University students from 53 UN member countries including 80 from Malaysia
are participating in the five-day conference.
