AGENCY LAUNCHES PAKISTAN FLOOD RELIEF FUND
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) Monday
launched the Pakistan flood relief fund to help millions of victims displaced by
the worst flood in the country.
Its President Dr Abdul Razak Kechik said the fund would allow the MRA
to provide and channel assistance such as canvases, blankets, clothes, foods,
kitchenware, sanitary kit and medicines to the victims.
"It is estimated that six million people in Pakistan are experiencing food
shortages and are without shelter and clean water supply.
"This humanitarian assistance has to be speedily channelled in view of the
cold season approaching in two months," he said in a statement.
Contributions can be made to the Pakistan Flood Victims Fund's Maybank
account number 5640-9820-6365.
Meanwhile, MRA coordinator for emergency assistance Mohd Shahrulazilan and
emergency medical director Shahrizal Azwan will leave for a fact-finding mission
to Pakistan on Thursday.
