M'SIAN GMUN PARTICIPANTS LAUNCH PAKISTAN RELIEF FUND
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- Sixty-two Malaysian youths attending the
Global Model United Nations (GMUN) Conference here have launched a fund in aid
of the flood victims in Pakistan.
Malaysian Muslim Students Association president Muhammad Faisal Abdul Aziz
said the fund was also to raise awareness among conference participants on the
plights of millions of Pakistanis who were displaced by the worst flood in
Pakistan's history.
"We need them to come forward and offer assistance," he told reporters after
launching the fund Tuesday.
The fund is initiated by the association in collaboration with the Malaysian
Islamic Youth Movement and the Global Peace Mission.
Meanwhile, a participant from Pakistan, Rabel Awal, 23, said she was
grateful to conference participants for the fund.
"They need medicine, food and other assistance because their homes have been
completely destroyed in the flood," she said.
