FIIs have infused Rs 1,264 crore in local stocks so far
in August, taking their total investment in Indian equity to
Rs 55,003 crore till now in the current year.
HUL rose by 1.65 per cent, ITC by 1.54 per cent and
Jaiprakash Associates by 3 per cent and RelInfra by 2.04 per
cent. L&T jumped 1.39 per cent.
In the Sensex pack, 17 stocks ended with gain, while rest
13 closed in the red. The major gainers were capital goods and
energy stocks. Barring realty and PSU, all the 13 sectoral
indices of BSE ended in the green, rising up to 2 per cent.
ONGC sank by 1.39 per cent and was the worst performer in
the BSE-30. Other major loser include, Tata Power (1.1 per
cent) and Bharti Airtel (0.43 per cent).
Tata Motors, which according to media reports is planning
to raise about USD 700 million, fell 0.7 per cent. In previous
trade, the scrip had gained over 4 per cent.
On the global front, Asian bourses settled in green with
Japan's benchmark Nikkei leading the gain the region. Nikkei
rose 1.32 per cent and China's Shanghai index 0.81 per cent.
European markets were also trading higher in the after-
