MORE MALAYSIAN WOMEN LIKELY TO GIVE TO CHARITY, SAYS SURVEY
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- More Malaysian women are looking to donate
than men in the coming six months, according to a bi-annual MasterCard Worldwide
consumer survey.
In a statement here Friday, MasterCard said the survey showed that some 61 per
cent of the consumers in Malaysia planned to make a charitable donation in the
next six months.
"The survey, conducted between March and April 2010, showed that 69 per cent of
the women in Malaysia planned to donate, compared with only 53 per cent of the
men," it said.
MasterCard said consumers between the age of 30-44 years (64 per cent) and 18-29
years (60 per cent) appeared to be more generous compared to their older
counterparts aged 45 and above (57 per cent).
"Single consumers appear to be just as likely to donate to a worthy cause as
married consumers (61 per cent)," it said.
It said across Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa region, a trend of rising
generosity was evident.
"One in two respondents plan to donate in the six months ahead, with older and
married consumers leading the pack," it said.
A total of 10,920 consumers in 24 markets worldwide were surveyed on their plans
to make a charitable donation in the following six months.
