Second Pacific Economic Congress opening in Vladivostok
VLADIVOSTOK, July 26 (Itar-Tass) - Second Pacific Economic Congressopens in Vladivostok Saturday.
This year, it brings together businessmen from dozens of cities of the Russian Far East, Siberia and regions to the west of the Urals, as well as economic experts from the U.S., China, South Korea, and Japan.
Sources at the Primorsky /Maritime/ territory administration said Executive Secretary of the APEC Secretariat, Juan Carlos Capunay and Dr George Yip, a leading international expert in global economic strategiesand marketing, have given consent to attend the congress.
Dr Yip is expected to make a report on Russian Far-Eastern companies'competitive strategies in Asia and the Pacific.
The itinerary of the forum includes a plenary session titled 'The Resources of the Future' that will present the strategy of social and economic development of the Primorsky territory through to 2025 and thestrategy of Russia's general development over the long term.
The participants will give special attention to the problems of and prospects for the power industry and oil/gas industry in the Far East, as well as the region's transportations and logistics complex, development offinancial markets and effectuation of business projects.
The second day of the congress will be devoted to informal communications between the participants, who will also attended thefunctions dedicated to Navy Day.
Vladivostok hosted the first Pacific Economic Forum at the end of July last year. It had more than 350 participants, including businessmen and economists from Moscow, St Petersburg, the Far-Eastern regions of Russia, China, Japan, South Korea, the U.S., and other countries of Asia and thePacific.
Presentations of two major projects - preparations for Russia's presidency in APEC in 2012 and the setting up of a gambling zone in thePrimorsky territory - became its key events.
