SEDANIA TRAVELNEEDS2U EYES 20 NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH TELCOS BY YEAR END
By Samantha Tan Chiew Ting
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- SEDANIA Travelneeds2u Sdn Bhd, an MSC
Malaysia-status company providing niche services to global travellers, is
looking at 15-20 telcommunications companies (telcos) by year-end to enlarge its
coverage for the Global Starter Pack (GSP).
GSP, a local prepaid sim card, enables travellers to enjoy savings of up to
90 per cent for calls made to their destination countries.
Besides the cheaper calls, it will also save travellers the hassle of buying
SIM packs in a foreign country.
SEDANIA Travelneeds2u's chief executive officer, Radzib Ariff, said the
company needed to add new telcos to enhance its presence in Asia-Pacific, the
world's fastest-growing tourism destination.
"In one month's time, we would be adding two to three telcos.
"We are looking at Hong Kong, Macau and Brunei. The following month, we will
add India, Bangladesh and Pakistan," he told Bernama in an interview here
Saturday.
Currently, GSP is available in seven countries -- Malaysia, Indonesia,
Singapore, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.
Radzib said SEDANIA Travelneeds2u also planned to enter Middle East by
year-end and Europe soon.
However, he said, the company needed to establish its foothold in
Association of South-East Asian Nations before going abroad.
He said SEDANIA Travelneeds2u was eyeing the business potential worth US$22
billion (US$1=RM3.10) from the 2.2 billion airline passengers around the world.
Radzib said the company's partnership with International Air Transport
Association (IATA) has also allowed GSP to gain international recognition among
the travel and tourism industry.
SEDANIA Travelneeds2u's GSP has also been appointed a Mobility Partner
for the Malaysia Association of Tour and Travel Agents Fair which will be held
this September, he said.
Besides the GSP, SEDANIA Travelneeds2u also offers Safetrip, travel
insurance and Focus AdSpace, IATA ticket wallet advertising space.
The company is a subsidiary of SEDANIA Group, a Malaysian-based content and
media group.
SEDANIA's other core activities include content for television, mobile,
ground events, mobile communication technologies and platform, research and
development as well as infrastructure.
Its portfolio includes handling projects such as the English Premier
League, World Cup, Olympics, Airtime Share, VoiceMe Tone and others.
SEDANIA Travelneeds2u recently won the 11th MSC Malaysia Asia Pacific ICT
Alliance Awards in the Best of Tourism and Hospitality category with its GPS.
Radzib said the award was an endorsement for the company to further promote
its GSP to Asia-Pacific market, and at the same time help to gain confidence in
potential telco partners.
