PM'S WIFE CALLS ON MUSLIM COMMUNITY TO CREATE MORE PHILANTHROPISTS
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- Rosmah Mansor, the wife of the prime minister,
Tuesday called on the Muslim community in the country to create more
philanthropists from among its entrepreneurs if it wanted to be dynamic and
progressive.
She said such a culture had for long been the way of life of the corporate
people in the United States.
The readiness of the rich personalities and corporate companies in the United
States to share their wealth derived from their business empires had helped
greatly to spur that country into the largest economic power today, she said.
Efforts to establish philanthropy among entrepreneurs should spur Muslim
entrepreneurs to set aside a percentage of their business profits to be returned
to the community which had helped to drive their business success, she said at
the breaking of the fast, here.
"The Muslim community in Malaysia should be encouraged to make philanthropy a
solution to the various problems of the community, in terms of religion,
welfare, education and social," she said.
Rosmah said the Muslim community could take a cue from the success of other
communities in developing itself by using the wealth gained to provide the
social infrastructure required to spur the community to greater heights,
especially in education.
