ROYAL SELANGOR TO OPEN SECOND VISITOR CENTRE IN PENANG

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- Royal Selangor plans to set up a visitor
centre at the RM250 million (US$79.478 million) Straits Quay retail marina in
northern state of Penang.

Royal Selangor Marketing Sdn Bhd general manager, Chen Tien Yue, said the
centre, its second in Malaysia and only the third worldwide, would open in
December this year.

"The visitor centre aims to give the public a better understanding of what the
Royal Selangor brand is about," he told a media briefing here Wednesday.

Chen said the 4,000-sq ft centre would have all the elements of a guided tour, a
pewtersmithing demo area, retail and visitor activity.

He, however, declined to elaborate when asked on the investment and the
projected profit the centre would generate.

"We are still working on it," he said.

Meanwhile, E&O executive director, Eric Chan, said the company was confident the
centre would become a must-visit destination in Penang.

"Our aim in establishing Straits Quay is to create a unique festival marina
lifestyle by putting together a mixture of retail outlets and experiences.

"The Royal Selangor visitor centre is a perfect complement to this vision," he
said.

Straits Quay is a commercial development within the Seri Tanjung Pinang
waterfront community, will open end-November this year.
