KEPALA BATAS (Penang, Malaysia), Aug 26 (Bernama) -- Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has offered free cargo service for relief goods meant for Pakistani flood victims.
Honorary Consul-General of Pakistan in northern state of Penang Abdul Rafique
Karim said those who wanted to extend aid to the flood victims could contact him
at 04-2829800 to arrange the delivery of goods through the PIA.
"However, donors must send the goods to the PIA at the KL International Airport
by themselves as there are no direct flights from Penang to Pakistan," he told
reporters after the breaking of fast hosted by Allianze College of Medical
Sciences (ACMS) here Wednesday night.
ACMS donated RM5,000 (US$1,591) for the relief effort.
Abdul Rafique said among essential items needed by the flood victims were
blankets, clothing, medicines and canned food.
The floods in Pakistan have displaced more than seven million people and more
than 30,000 houses had been destroyed since July 22.
