MALAYSIA AIRLINES TO MOUNT TWO ADDITIONAL FLIGHTS TO YANGON
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will&8236;&8234;
&8236;&8234;mount two additional flights between Kuala Lumpur and Yangon,
effective Sept 2, resulting in seven flights weekly.
The flight, which takes approximately two hours 45 minutes, will operate every
Tuesday and Thursday, departing Kuala Lumpur at 10.05am to arrive inYangon at
11.15am.
From Yangon, the flight will depart at 12.15pm to arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 4.30pm.
MAS Senior General Manager Commercial Strategy Dr Amin Khan said the additional
flights to Yangon would cater to additional demand for the route.
For the Jan-June period, passengers for the Kuala Lumpur–Yangon route had risen
39 per cent year-on-year or 24 per cent as compared to 2008, he said in a
statement Thursday.
"Our passengers to Yangon currently consist of the business market.
"We are keen to expand the leisure market for Yangon as a gateway to the rest of
Myanmar. The country offers a delightful blend of history, art and nature.
Leisure travellers exploring Myanmar can also look forward to scenic mountains,
beaches and even gemstone shopping," he said.
