MAYC ASKS FOR FUNDING IN 2011 BUDGET TO IMPROVE ASEAN YOUTH TIES

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Association of Youth Clubs
(MAYC) Thursday called on the government to provide funding under next year's
budget for the improvement of ties between youths of Asean countries.

Its president Akhramsyah Sanusi said this would help check extremist tendencies
like what was happening in Indonesia now where irresponsible youths were posing
a threat to the existing good ties between Malaysia and Indonesia.

"The fund can be managed by the Youth and Sports Ministry," he said in a
statement here.

He added that MAYC was making the suggestion in response to the call by Prime
Minister Najib Razak on Wednesday to Malaysians to share ideas for the 2011
budget.
