CM SAYS ANTI-MALAYSIA DEMONSTRATION EMBARRASSING

KOTA BAHARU (Kelantan, Malaysia), Aug 27 (Bernama) -- East coast state of
Kelantan Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has described as
embarrassing the actions of a group of demonstrators who threw human faeces into
the compound of the Malaysian embassy in Jakarta and smeared feaces on the
Malaysian flag on Monday.

Nik Aziz, who is PAS (Parti Islam SeMalaysia) spiritual leader, said as
neighbours, Malaysia and Indonesia could resolve issues in an appropriate
manner.

"This is embarrassing; first because we are neighbours, and also because we are
of the same race and religion. Why it has to go to that extent?" he told
reporters after giving his Friday sermon at Dataran Ilmu, here Friday.

He was earlier interviewed by Indonesia's TV One.

Nik Aziz was asked to comment on the actions of a group of demonstrators in
Jakarta who threw human faeces into the mission's compound and others stomped on
the Malaysian flag and smeared it with faeces.

Prime Minister Najib Razak had also expressed disappointment over the incident.

Nik Aziz said the demonstrators should not have resorted to doing what they had
done because both governments would be able find solution to problems that arose
between both countries.

"I pray to Allah to restore the good relations between both countries," he said.
